Precise control of valve gate systems

Modern production systems require precise control. This is why GÜNTHER Hot Runner Technology is making forward-looking investments in innovative control technology. The latest development from the Frankenberg-based hot runner specialists is the DPE control unit for up to 16-drop valve gate systems.  

By controlling the powerful 2-phase stepper motors, the newly developed control unit can individually control all the needles of the hot runner system fully automatically and with absolute precision. All needles can be precisely adjusted to 1/100 mm. Another advantage of the new precision control is the ability to close shut-off needles from different positions simultaneously.

The DPE control unit is now available in a variety of versions (DPE4, DPE8, DPE12 and DPE16) with different numbers of channels. The motors driven by the control unit are equipped with position encoders in order to be able to control the position of the shut-off needles. Via a link to the injection moulding machine, a signal can be transmitted in the event of a fault, which prompts the user to intervene. This improves process reliability, especially with regard to unmanned shifts. The encoder signals are read out automatically, which enables correct needle positioning without manual intervention. The valve gate control works as a closed control circuit. Motor wiring has been reduced to a minimum so that wiring faults are nearly impossible during connection.

Innovative and modern operating concept

All device versions feature a central 7" touch LCD display which shows the current traversal position of all motors. The clear, comprehensible and consistently colored menu guidance makes the current needle positions easy to read at any time. Operation is intuitive by swiping or pressing visualized buttons. To save the settings, memory locations for mould data are available. All actions and events are automatically logged in the internal memory.
