GÜNTHER side injection moulding with short head nozzles: Efficient hot-runner solutions for material-saving injection moulding production

GÜNTHER Hot Runner Technology short head hot runner nozzles, featuring a shaft length of only 30 mm and an overall length of 48 mm including the nozzle tip, provide a compact solution for injection moulds with side gating. The melt is injected directly at the side surface of the moulded part. To achieve optimum gate quality, the surface to be gated should be positioned at a 90° angle to the mould parting line.

Direct gating eliminates the need for a cold runner, reducing material waste and minimizing downstream processing operations. The compact nozzle design allows for close cavity spacing and greater flexibility in mould design. Each gating point can be heated and temperature-controlled individually. The uniform temperature distribution within the nozzles ensures a stable injection moulding process and consistently high gate quality.

Design requirements

  • No draft angle at the gate location

  • PA6-GF30 machine component: 1 + 1-cavity layout with 8SMF30K nozzles, 54.6 g per nozzle, gate Ø 2.0 mm
  • PA66-GF50 (Ultramid A3WG10): 2 + 2 layout with Type 5SMT30KH nozzles, T-manifold, T-dimension 157 mm, nozzle pitch 76 mm, 18 g per nozzle, gate Ø 1.8 mm
